John chapter 9

John 9:1: ^CA Jah þairhgaggands gaumida mann blindamma us gabaurþai.; — καὶ παράγων εἶδεν ἄνθρωπον τυφλὸν ἐκ γενετῆς.; — And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
John 9:2: ^CA þaruh frehun ina siponjos is qiþandans: rabbei, hvas frawaurhta, sau þau fadrein is, ei blinds gabaurans warþ?; — καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες, ῥαββί, τίς ἥμαρτεν, οὗτος ἢ οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ, ἵνα τυφλὸς γεννηθῇ;; — And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
John 9:3: ^CA andhof Iesus: nih sa frawaurhta nih fadrein is, ak ei bairhta waurþeina waurstwa gudis ana imma.; — ἀπεκρίθη ἰησοῦς, οὔτε οὗτος ἥμαρτεν οὔτε οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ, ἀλλ' ἵνα φανερωθῇ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ.; — Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
John 9:4: ^CA ik skal waurkjan waurstwa þis sandjandins mik, unte dags ist; qimiþ nahts, þanei ni manna mag waurkjan.; — ἡμᾶς δεῖ ἐργάζεσθαι τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πέμψαντός με ἕως ἡμέρα ἐστίν: ἔρχεται νὺξ ὅτε οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐργάζεσθαι.; — I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:5: ^CA þan in þamma fairhvau im, liuhaþ im þis fairhvaus.; — ὅταν ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ὦ, φῶς εἰμι τοῦ κόσμου.; — As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 9:6: ^CA þata qiþands gaspaiw dalaþ, jah gawaurhta fani us þamma spaiskuldra, jah gasmait imma ana augona þata fani þamma blindin,; — ταῦτα εἰπὼν ἔπτυσεν χαμαὶ καὶ ἐποίησεν πηλὸν ἐκ τοῦ πτύσματος, καὶ ἐπέχρισεν αὐτοῦ τὸν πηλὸν ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς; — When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
John 9:7: ^CA jah qaþ du imma: gagg þwahan in swumsl Siloamis, þatei gaskeirjada insandiþs. galaiþ jah afþwoh jah qam saihvands.; — καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, ὕπαγε νίψαι εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν τοῦ σιλωάμ ὃ ἑρμηνεύεται ἀπεσταλμένος. ἀπῆλθεν οὖν καὶ ἐνίψατο, καὶ ἦλθεν βλέπων.; — And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
John 9:8: ^CA þanuh garaznans jah þai saihvandans ina faurþis, þatei is bidagwa was, qeþun: niu sa ist saei sat aihtronds?; — οἱ οὖν γείτονες καὶ οἱ θεωροῦντες αὐτὸν τὸ πρότερον ὅτι προσαίτης ἦν ἔλεγον, οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ καθήμενος καὶ προσαιτῶν;; — The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
John 9:9: ^CA sumaih qeþun: þatei sa ist; sumaih þatei galeiks þamma ist; iþ is qaþ: þatei ik im.; — ἄλλοι ἔλεγον ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν: ἄλλοι ἔλεγον, οὐχί, ἀλλὰ ὅμοιος αὐτῷ ἐστιν. ἐκεῖνος ἔλεγεν ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι.; — Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
John 9:10: ^CA þanuh qeþun du imma: hvaiwa usluknodedun þus þo augona?; — ἔλεγον οὖν αὐτῷ, πῶς [οὖν] ἠνεῴχθησάν σου οἱ ὀφθαλμοί;; — Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
John 9:11: ^CA andhof jains jah qaþ: manna haitans Iesus fani gawaurhta jah bismait mis augona jah qaþ mis: gagg afþwahan in þata swumfsl Siloamis; iþ ik galaiþ jah biþwahands ussahv.; — ἀπεκρίθη ἐκεῖνος, ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ λεγόμενος ἰησοῦς πηλὸν ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐπέχρισέν μου τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς καὶ εἶπέν μοι ὅτι ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν σιλωὰμ καὶ νίψαι: ἀπελθὼν οὖν καὶ νιψάμενος ἀνέβλεψα.; — He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
John 9:12: ^CA qeþun þan du imma: hvar ist sa? iþ is qaþ: ni wait.; — καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, ποῦ ἐστιν ἐκεῖνος; λέγει, οὐκ οἶδα.; — Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
John 9:13: ^CA gatiuhand ina du Fareisaium, þana saei was blinds.; — ἄγουσιν αὐτὸν πρὸς τοὺς φαρισαίους τόν ποτε τυφλόν.; — They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
John 9:14: ^CA wasuh þan sabbato, þan þata fani gawaurhta Iesus jah uslauk imma augona.; — ἦν δὲ σάββατον ἐν ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ τὸν πηλὸν ἐποίησεν ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ ἀνέῳξεν αὐτοῦ τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς.; — And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
John 9:15: ^CA aftra þan frehun ina jah þai Fareisaieis hvaiwa ussahv; iþ is qaþ jah þaim: fani galagida mis ana augona jah afþwoh, jah saihva.; — πάλιν οὖν ἠρώτων αὐτὸν καὶ οἱ φαρισαῖοι πῶς ἀνέβλεψεν. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, πηλὸν ἐπέθηκέν μου ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς, καὶ ἐνιψάμην, καὶ βλέπω.; — Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
John 9:16: ^CA qeþun þan sumai þize Fareisaie: sa manna nist fram guda, þande sabbate daga ni witaiþ. sumaih qeþun: hvaiwa mag manna frawaurhts swaleikos taiknins taujan? jah missaqiss warþ miþ im.; — ἔλεγον οὖν ἐκ τῶν φαρισαίων τινές, οὐκ ἔστιν οὗτος παρὰ θεοῦ ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ὅτι τὸ σάββατον οὐ τηρεῖ. ἄλλοι [δὲ] ἔλεγον, πῶς δύναται ἄνθρωπος ἁμαρτωλὸς τοιαῦτα σημεῖα ποιεῖν; καὶ σχίσμα ἦν ἐν αὐτοῖς.; — Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
John 9:17: ^CA qeþunuh du þamma faurþis blindin aftra: þu hva qiþis bi þana ei uslauk þus augona? iþ is qaþuh: þatei praufetus ist.; — λέγουσιν οὖν τῷ τυφλῷ πάλιν, τί σὺ λέγεις περὶ αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἠνέῳξέν σου τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ὅτι προφήτης ἐστίν.; — They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
John 9:18: ^CA ni galaubidedun þan Iudaieis bi ina þatei is blinds wesi jah ussehvi, unte atwopidedun þans fadrein is, þis ussaihvandins.; — οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν οὖν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι περὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἦν τυφλὸς καὶ ἀνέβλεψεν, ἕως ὅτου ἐφώνησαν τοὺς γονεῖς αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἀναβλέψαντος; — But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
John 9:19: ^CA jah frehun ins qiþandans: sau ist sa sunus izwar þanei jus qiþiþ þatei blinds gabaurans waurþi? hvaiwa nu saihviþ?; — καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτοὺς λέγοντες, οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς ὑμῶν, ὃν ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι τυφλὸς ἐγεννήθη; πῶς οὖν βλέπει ἄρτι;; — And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
John 9:20: ^CA andhofun þan im þai fadrein is jah qeþun: witum þatei sa ist sunus unsar, jah þatei blinds gabaurans warþ;; — ἀπεκρίθησαν οὖν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν, οἴδαμεν ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς ἡμῶν καὶ ὅτι τυφλὸς ἐγεννήθη:; — His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
John 9:21: ^CA iþ hvaiwa nu saihviþ ni witum, aiþþau hvas uslauk imma þo augona weis ni witum; silba uswahsans ist, ina fraihniþ, silba bi sik rodjai.; — πῶς δὲ νῦν βλέπει οὐκ οἴδαμεν, ἢ τίς ἤνοιξεν αὐτοῦ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ἡμεῖς οὐκ οἴδαμεν: αὐτὸν ἐρωτήσατε, ἡλικίαν ἔχει, αὐτὸς περὶ ἑαυτοῦ λαλήσει.; — But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
John 9:22: ^CA þata qeþun þai fadrein is, unte ohtedun sis Iudaiuns; juþan auk gaqeþun sis Iudaieis, ei, jabai hvas ina andhaihaiti Xristu, utana swnagogais wairþai.; — ταῦτα εἶπαν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐφοβοῦντο τοὺς ἰουδαίους, ἤδη γὰρ συνετέθειντο οἱ ἰουδαῖοι ἵνα ἐάν τις αὐτὸν ὁμολογήσῃ χριστόν, ἀποσυνάγωγος γένηται.; — These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
John 9:23: ^CA duhþe þai berusjos is qeþun þatei uswahsans ist, silban fraihniþ.; — διὰ τοῦτο οἱ γονεῖς αὐτοῦ εἶπαν ὅτι ἡλικίαν ἔχει, αὐτὸν ἐπερωτήσατε.; — Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
John 9:24: ^CA atwopidedun þan anþaramma sinþa þana mannan saei was blinds, jah qeþun du imma: gif hauhein guda! weis witum þatei sa manna frawaurhts ist.; — ἐφώνησαν οὖν τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐκ δευτέρου ὃς ἦν τυφλὸς καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, δὸς δόξαν τῷ θεῷ: ἡμεῖς οἴδαμεν ὅτι οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἁμαρτωλός ἐστιν.; — Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
John 9:25: ^CA þanuh andhof jains: jabai frawaurhts ist, ik ni wait; þat~ain wait ei blinds was, iþ nu saihva.; — ἀπεκρίθη οὖν ἐκεῖνος, εἰ ἁμαρτωλός ἐστιν οὐκ οἶδα: ἓν οἶδα, ὅτι τυφλὸς ὢν ἄρτι βλέπω.; — He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
John 9:26: ^CA þanuh qeþun <du imma> aftra: hva gatawida þus? hvaiwa uslauk þus augona?; — εἶπον οὖν αὐτῷ, τί ἐποίησέν σοι; πῶς ἤνοιξέν σου τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς;; — Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
John 9:27: ^CA andhof im: qaþ izwis ju jah ni hausideduþ; hva aftra wileiþ hausjan? ibai jah jus wileiþ þamma siponjos wairþan?; — ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς, εἶπον ὑμῖν ἤδη καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσατε: τί πάλιν θέλετε ἀκούειν; μὴ καὶ ὑμεῖς θέλετε αὐτοῦ μαθηταὶ γενέσθαι;; — He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
John 9:28: ^CA þanuh lailoun imma jah qeþun: þu is siponeis þamma, iþ weis Mose siponjos sijum.; — καὶ ἐλοιδόρησαν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπον, σὺ μαθητὴς εἶ ἐκείνου, ἡμεῖς δὲ τοῦ μωϋσέως ἐσμὲν μαθηταί:; — Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
John 9:29: ^CA weis witum þatei du Mose rodida guþ, iþ þana ni kunnum, hvaþro ist.; — ἡμεῖς οἴδαμεν ὅτι μωϋσεῖ λελάληκεν ὁ θεός, τοῦτον δὲ οὐκ οἴδαμεν πόθεν ἐστίν.; — We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
John 9:30: ^CA andhof sa manna jah qaþ du im: auk in þamma sildaleik ist, þatei jus ni wituþ hvaþro ist, jah uslauk mis augona.; — ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἐν τούτῳ γὰρ τὸ θαυμαστόν ἐστιν ὅτι ὑμεῖς οὐκ οἴδατε πόθεν ἐστίν, καὶ ἤνοιξέν μου τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς.; — The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
John 9:31: ^CA witumuh þan þatei guþ frawaurhtaim ni andhauseiþ, ak jabai hvas gudblostreis ist jah wiljan is taujiþ, þamma hauseiþ.; — οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἁμαρτωλῶν ὁ θεὸς οὐκ ἀκούει, ἀλλ' ἐάν τις θεοσεβὴς ᾖ καὶ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ ποιῇ τούτου ἀκούει.; — Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
John 9:32: ^CA fram aiwa ni gahausiþ was þatei uslukiþ hvas augona blindamma gabauranamma.; — ἐκ τοῦ αἰῶνος οὐκ ἠκούσθη ὅτι ἠνέῳξέν τις ὀφθαλμοὺς τυφλοῦ γεγεννημένου:; — Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
John 9:33: ^CA nih wesi sa fram guda, ni mahtedi taujan ni waiht.; — εἰ μὴ ἦν οὗτος παρὰ θεοῦ, οὐκ ἠδύνατο ποιεῖν οὐδέν.; — If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
John 9:34: ^CA andhofun jah qeþun du imma: in frawaurhtim þu gabaurans warst alls jah þu laiseis unsis? jah uswaurpun imma ut.; — ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, ἐν ἁμαρτίαις σὺ ἐγεννήθης ὅλος, καὶ σὺ διδάσκεις ἡμᾶς; καὶ ἐξέβαλον αὐτὸν ἔξω.; — They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
John 9:35: ^CA hausida Iesus þatei uswaurpun imma ut, jah bigat ina qaþuh du imma: þu ga~u~laubeis du sunau gudis?; — ἤκουσεν ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἐξέβαλον αὐτὸν ἔξω, καὶ εὑρὼν αὐτὸν εἶπεν, σὺ πιστεύεις εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;; — Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
John 9:36: ^CA andhof jains jah qaþ: an hvas ist, frauja, ei galaubjau du imma?; — ἀπεκρίθη ἐκεῖνος καὶ εἶπεν, καὶ τίς ἐστιν, κύριε, ἵνα πιστεύσω εἰς αὐτόν;; — He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
John 9:37: ^CA qaþ þan imma Iesus: jah gasahvt ina jah saei rodeiþ miþ þus, sa ist.; — εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἰησοῦς, καὶ ἑώρακας αὐτὸν καὶ ὁ λαλῶν μετὰ σοῦ ἐκεῖνός ἐστιν.; — And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
John 9:38: ^CA iþ is qaþuh: galaubja, frauja; jah inwait ina.; — ὁ δὲ ἔφη, πιστεύω, κύριε: καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτῷ.; — And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
John 9:39: ^CA jah qaþ Iesus: du stauai ik in þamma fairhvau qam, ei þai unsaihvandans saihvaina jah þai saihvandans blindai wairþaina.; — καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἰησοῦς, εἰς κρίμα ἐγὼ εἰς τὸν κόσμον τοῦτον ἦλθον, ἵνα οἱ μὴ βλέποντες βλέπωσιν καὶ οἱ βλέποντες τυφλοὶ γένωνται.; — And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
John 9:40: ^CA jah hausidedun þize Fareisaie sumai þata, þai wisandans miþ imma, jah qeþun du imma: ibai jah weis blindai sijum?; — ἤκουσαν ἐκ τῶν φαρισαίων ταῦτα οἱ μετ' αὐτοῦ ὄντες, καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ, μὴ καὶ ἡμεῖς τυφλοί ἐσμεν;; — And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
John 9:41: ^CA qaþ im Iesus: iþ blindai weseiþ, ni þau habaidedeiþ frawaurhtais; iþ nu qiþiþ þatei gasaihvam; eiþan frawaurhts izwara þairhwisiþ.; — εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, εἰ τυφλοὶ ἦτε, οὐκ ἂν εἴχετε ἁμαρτίαν: νῦν δὲ λέγετε ὅτι βλέπομεν: ἡ ἁμαρτία ὑμῶν μένει.; — Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
