Luke chapter 16

Luke 16:1: ^CA Qaþuþ~þan du siponjam seinaim: manne sums was gabeigs, saei aihta fauragaggjan, jah sa frawrohiþs warþ du imma ei distahidedi aigin is.; — ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητάς, ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν πλούσιος ὃς εἶχεν οἰκονόμον, καὶ οὗτος διεβλήθη αὐτῷ ὡς διασκορπίζων τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ.; — And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
Luke 16:2: ^CA jah atwopjands ina qaþ du imma: duhve þata hausja fram þus? usgif raþjon fauragaggjis þeinis, ni magt auk ju þanamais fauragaggja wisan.; — καὶ φωνήσας αὐτὸν εἶπεν αὐτῷ, τί τοῦτο ἀκούω περὶ σοῦ; ἀπόδος τὸν λόγον τῆς οἰκονομίας σου, οὐ γὰρ δύνῃ ἔτι οἰκονομεῖν.; — And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
Luke 16:3: ^CA qaþ þan in sis sa fauragaggja: hva taujau, þandei frauja meins afnimiþ fauragaggi af mis? graban ni mag, bidjan skama mik.; — εἶπεν δὲ ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὁ οἰκονόμος, τί ποιήσω, ὅτι ὁ κύριός μου ἀφαιρεῖται τὴν οἰκονομίαν ἀπ' ἐμοῦ; σκάπτειν οὐκ ἰσχύω, ἐπαιτεῖν αἰσχύνομαι.; — Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
Luke 16:4: ^CA andþahta mik hva taujau, ei þan, biþe afsatjaidau us fauragaggja, andnimaina mik in gardins seinans.; — ἔγνων τί ποιήσω, ἵνα ὅταν μετασταθῶ ἐκ τῆς οἰκονομίας δέξωνταί με εἰς τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν.; — I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
Luke 16:5: ^CA jah athaitands ainhvarjanoh faihuskulane fraujins seinis qaþ þamma frumistin: hvan filu skalt fraujin meinamma?; — καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος ἕνα ἕκαστον τῶν χρεοφειλετῶν τοῦ κυρίου ἑαυτοῦ ἔλεγεν τῷ πρώτῳ, πόσον ὀφείλεις τῷ κυρίῳ μου;; — So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
Luke 16:6: ^CA þaruh qaþ: taihuntaihund kase alewis. jah qaþ du imma: nim þus bokos jah gasitands sprauto gamelei fim tiguns.; — ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἑκατὸν βάτους ἐλαίου. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, δέξαι σου τὰ γράμματα καὶ καθίσας ταχέως γράψον πεντήκοντα.; — And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
Luke 16:7: ^CA þaþroh þan du anþaramma qaþ: aþþan þu, hvan filu skalt? iþ is qaþ: taihuntaihund mitade kaurnis. jah qaþ du imma: nim þus bokos jah melei ahtautehund.; — ἔπειτα ἑτέρῳ εἶπεν, σὺ δὲ πόσον ὀφείλεις; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἑκατὸν κόρους σίτου. λέγει αὐτῷ, δέξαι σου τὰ γράμματα καὶ γράψον ὀγδοήκοντα.; — Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
Luke 16:8: ^CA jah hazida sa frauja þana fauragaggjan inwindiþos, unte frodaba gatawida; unte þai sunjos þis aiwis frodozans sunum liuhadis in kunja seinamma sind.; — καὶ ἐπῄνεσεν ὁ κύριος τὸν οἰκονόμον τῆς ἀδικίας ὅτι φρονίμως ἐποίησεν: ὅτι οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου φρονιμώτεροι ὑπὲρ τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ φωτὸς εἰς τὴν γενεὰν τὴν ἑαυτῶν εἰσιν.; — And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
Luke 16:9: ^CA jah ik izwis qiþa: taujaiþ izwis frijonds us faihuþraihna inwindiþos, ei þan ufligaiþ, andnimaina izwis in aiweinos hleiþros.; — καὶ ἐγὼ ὑμῖν λέγω, ἑαυτοῖς ποιήσατε φίλους ἐκ τοῦ μαμωνᾶ τῆς ἀδικίας, ἵνα ὅταν ἐκλίπῃ δέξωνται ὑμᾶς εἰς τὰς αἰωνίους σκηνάς.; — And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
Luke 16:10: ^CA saei triggws ist in leitilamma jah in managamma triggws ist; jah sa in leitilamma untriggwa jah in managamma untriggws ist.; — ὁ πιστὸς ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ καὶ ἐν πολλῷ πιστός ἐστιν, καὶ ὁ ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ ἄδικος καὶ ἐν πολλῷ ἄδικός ἐστιν.; — He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Luke 16:11: ^CA jabai nu in inwindamma faihuþraihna triggwai ni waurþuþ, þata sunjeino hvas izwis galaubeiþ?; — εἰ οὖν ἐν τῷ ἀδίκῳ μαμωνᾷ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ἀληθινὸν τίς ὑμῖν πιστεύσει;; — If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Luke 16:12: ^CA jah jabai in þamma framaþjin triggwai ni waurþuþ, þata izwar hvas izwis gibiþ?; — καὶ εἰ ἐν τῷ ἀλλοτρίῳ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ὑμέτερον τίς ὑμῖν δώσει;; — And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
Luke 16:13: ^CA ni ainshun þiwe mag twaim fraujam skalkinon; andizuh ainana fijaiþ jah anþarana frijoþ, aiþþau ainamma andtiloþ, iþ anþaramma frakann; ni maguþ guda skalkinon jah faihuþraihna.; — οὐδεὶς οἰκέτης δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν: ἢ γὰρ τὸν ἕνα μισήσει καὶ τὸν ἕτερον ἀγαπήσει, ἢ ἑνὸς ἀνθέξεται καὶ τοῦ ἑτέρου καταφρονήσει. οὐ δύνασθε θεῷ δουλεύειν καὶ μαμωνᾷ.; — No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Luke 16:14: ^CA gahausidedun þan þo alla jah þai Fareisaieis, faihufrikai wisandans, jah bimampidedun ina.; — ἤκουον δὲ ταῦτα πάντα οἱ φαρισαῖοι φιλάργυροι ὑπάρχοντες, καὶ ἐξεμυκτήριζον αὐτόν.; — And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
Luke 16:15: ^CA jah qaþ du im: jus sijuþ juzei garaihtans domeiþ izwis silbans in andwairþja manne; iþ guþ kann hairtona izwara, unte þata hauho in mannam andaset in andwairþja gudis.; — καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ δικαιοῦντες ἑαυτοὺς ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὁ δὲ θεὸς γινώσκει τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν: ὅτι τὸ ἐν ἀνθρώποις ὑψηλὸν βδέλυγμα ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.; — And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
Luke 16:16: ^CA witoþ jah praufeteis und Iohannen; þaþroh þiudangardi gudis wailamerjada jah hvazuh in izai nauþjada.; — ὁ νόμος καὶ οἱ προφῆται μέχρι ἰωάννου: ἀπὸ τότε ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ εὐαγγελίζεται καὶ πᾶς εἰς αὐτὴν βιάζεται.; — The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
Luke 16:17: ^CA iþ azetizo ist himin jah airþa hindarleiþan þau witodis ainana writ gadriusan.; — εὐκοπώτερον δέ ἐστιν τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν παρελθεῖν ἢ τοῦ νόμου μίαν κεραίαν πεσεῖν.; — And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.
Luke 16:18: ^CA hvazuh sa afletands qen seina jah liugands anþara horinoþ, jah hvazuh saei afleitana liugaiþ, horinoþ.; — πᾶς ὁ ἀπολύων τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ γαμῶν ἑτέραν μοιχεύει, καὶ ὁ ἀπολελυμένην ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς γαμῶν μοιχεύει.; — Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
Luke 16:19: ^CA aþþan manne sums was gabigs jah gawasids was paurpaurai jah bwssaun jah waila wisands daga hvammeh bairhtaba.; — ἄνθρωπος δέ τις ἦν πλούσιος, καὶ ἐνεδιδύσκετο πορφύραν καὶ βύσσον εὐφραινόμενος καθ' ἡμέραν λαμπρῶς.; — There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luke 16:20: ^CA iþ unleds sums was namin haitans Lazarus; sah atwaurpans was du daura is, banjo fulls.; — πτωχὸς δέ τις ὀνόματι λάζαρος ἐβέβλητο πρὸς τὸν πυλῶνα αὐτοῦ εἱλκωμένος; — And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21: ^CA jah gairnida saþ itan drauhsno þizo driusandeino af biuda þis gabeigins, akei jah hundos atrinnandans bilaigodedun banjos is.; — καὶ ἐπιθυμῶν χορτασθῆναι ἀπὸ τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τοῦ πλουσίου: ἀλλὰ καὶ οἱ κύνες ἐρχόμενοι ἐπέλειχον τὰ ἕλκη αὐτοῦ.; — And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22: ^CA warþ þan gaswiltan þamma unledin jah briggan fram aggilum in barma Abrahamis; gaswalt þan jah sa gabeiga jah gafulhans warþ.; — ἐγένετο δὲ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν πτωχὸν καὶ ἀπενεχθῆναι αὐτὸν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀγγέλων εἰς τὸν κόλπον ἀβραάμ: ἀπέθανεν δὲ καὶ ὁ πλούσιος καὶ ἐτάφη.; — And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23: ^CA jah in haljai ushafjands augona seina wisands in balweinim gasahv þan Abraham fairraþro jah Lazzaru in barmim is.; — καὶ ἐν τῷ ᾅδῃ ἐπάρας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ, ὑπάρχων ἐν βασάνοις, ὁρᾷ ἀβραὰμ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν καὶ λάζαρον ἐν τοῖς κόλποις αὐτοῦ.; — And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24: ^CA jah is ufhropjands ....; — καὶ αὐτὸς φωνήσας εἶπεν, πάτερ ἀβραάμ, ἐλέησόν με καὶ πέμψον λάζαρον ἵνα βάψῃ τὸ ἄκρον τοῦ δακτύλου αὐτοῦ ὕδατος καὶ καταψύξῃ τὴν γλῶσσάν μου, ὅτι ὀδυνῶμαι ἐν τῇ φλογὶ ταύτῃ.; — And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
